The 7 steps of creating a panel

Bringing the story to life – From script to a finished page.

We wanted to give you a peek behind the curtain and show the steps involved in the process of bringing the story to life:

1. Skript

Leif reworked the script, which he originally wrote together with Florian for a film format, to make the story fit the pages of a comic.

2. Thumbnails

Leif created thumbnails for the script to test if it would work as comic panels.

3. 3D planning

Leif reconstructed the scenes from the script in a 3D planner to better visualise the setup of individual scenes.

4. First sketches

Based on the discussions with Leif and the 3D plans, Amy created the first sketches of the comic.

5. Inks

canning and Digitizing. Amy draws the inks for the panels by hand. Amy scans and digitizes the inked panels.

6. Flattening and coloring

Leif flattens and colors the pages (have a look at our Story Highlights, if you would like to see a time lapse of Leif coloring a page).
